The main standard of the ISO family
I guess you already know about ISO 9001, that’s why you’re here right ? but just in case you need a little more info here it is:
ISO 9001 is the main standard in the ISO family which consists of many standards covering most aspects of management. The other most used standards are ISO 14001 the environmental standard and ISO 45001 the safety standard. ISO 9001 is by far the most important member of the family. It is the world’s number one quality standard and can be seen as the framework upon which all others can be based. ISO 9001 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of the type of business and there are over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries certified to ISO 9001.
This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. These principles upon which ISO 9001 is built are Customer focus, Leadership, Engagement of people, Process approach, Improvement, Evidence based decision making, Relationship management. Using ISO 9001 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good-quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits including credibility, trust, accountability and efficiency.
